This guy wears many hats in our house; he’s a husband, father, bread winner, business partner, our financial advisor and my BUSINESS COACH.

When I first asked Nick to join my business almost 5 years ago I had no idea what I would be getting. I mostly expected that he would be my full time second shooter on wedding days and that the rest of the business was up to me. It only took a matter of weeks before we were sitting around our table, me with tears in my eyes as he gave me feedback on areas I could improve.

It’s really hard to let someone you love so deeply (or anyone in general) speak into something you’re so passionate about and for a long time I struggled with his tips, tricks and suggestions for improvement. He quickly became so much more than just my second shooter and it scared me to be honest. He jumped into dealing with the finances, creating marketing strategies, setting up processes to improve my efficiency and challenging me to believe that I could be incredibly successful. Despite all of his efforts I had a really hard time as seeing him as my business partner and so often I found myself making excuses as to why I couldn’t do what he suggested.

A few weeks ago, we were sitting on the couch working on our goals for 2017 as a business and I started to weep (yet again) as he shared his vision. I realized in that moment that he was my business coach, that everything he advised on was for my benefit, for the benefit of my business. For so long I’d only seen him as my sweet husband who nit-picked at my passion because I do things differently than he would but in that moment, something switched and every word he said sounded different.

I had to learn to compartmentalize our business relationship and was able to see the necessity of having a business coach. Lucky for you, I’ve got 5 reasons why you should drop everything and find a business coach right now:

  1. They will push you to do things that are uncomfortable

But for real though, you need someone who can see past your fears and anxieties in order to help you achieve what may be difficult but worth it for your business.

  1. They will help you make your ideas a reality by knowing your business inside and out

Can we admit that one of the hardest parts of being an entrepreneur is managing all the to-do lists and all the dreams? Having a business coach will help you create a process and plan for growth.

  1. You’ll have someone that isn’t afraid of giving you feedback and correcting your path

This part is hard but so necessary, you need someone that can be transparent with you and call you out on making excuses for the hard work.

  1. They will hold you accountable to what really matters

If you’re like me your to-do lists (yes plural) surround you, and your business ideas and inspiration grow by the second. Having a coach helps you stay on track with accomplishing the things that really matter instead of focusing on starting a million things that don’t.

  1. You’ll be more successful

Who doesn’t want their business to succeed? Having someone speak into your business and partner with you in its growth not only makes you a more confident business owner but also makes you a more successful one. Their unbiased advice and council will put you on a path to exponential growth.
