A Darlington House Wedding
I answered the phone and the excitement and nerves were tangible. We were strangers at the time but a cold call from Colorado, a trip to the Hotel Del and a romantic proposal on the sand dunes would lead us to becoming life long friends. I remember the moment Nicole said yes, I was snapping away with tears in my eyes and thrill as her friends and family just continued to show up and surprise her. What started as a proposal shoot led to an engagement and a wedding for these Colorado love birds. We followed along as Patric traveled to Korea to work the Paralympic games and celebrated as Nicole finished her Doctor of Physical Therapy. They became so much more than just clients and when the wedding rolled around we were just as thrilled as the guests who showed up to celebrate them.
The Darlington House is every ounce of historic charm and modern elegance you could dream. A perfect tribute to a couple who spent a lot of time getting to know and love each other in San Diego.
Friends traveled from around the world to celebrate with Nicole and Patric and the day did not disappoint.
Lauren Weidley is the incredible planner who pulled this whole day together for this destination wedding!
Not a detail was forgotten in preparing for this day!
Leigh from Posies Floral Co. put together the most incredible bridal bouquet you’ve ever seen.
A perfect “unplugged” ceremony had the guests grinning the whole time.
Nicole’s brides maids looked perfect in their blush pink gowns…
… And Patric’s groom’s men looked dapper in navy blue.
The newly- wed couple was caught sneaking off enjoying their first few moments as husband and wife.
The Darlington House has so many gorgeous nooks, this door one was one of Nicole’s favorites.
After the ceremony the venue was quickly flipped into the reception area!
Nicole and her mom bought these Spanish style table numbers during a trip to Old Town in San Diego and had the name tiles on each plate painted to match them perfectly.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house from the moment speeches started to the last second of the mother-son dance.
Nicole and Patric are big dessert people and chose a local bakery, Sugar and Scribe to make their cake and other wedding day goodies! I have to admit I ate 10 too many of these little cookie muffins.
We slipped away to the beach to capture these two at Windansea beach for sunset.
Back at the reception the rest of the wedding party and guest danced the night away under the moonlit sky.
Congrats to 2 of our favorites, Nicole and Patric, you are so much more than friends to us, you’re family and we love you dearly!
